Your TAP wallet is used for payment inside TAP.
It is separate from your TAP points.
Your TAP wallet is used for:
paying at TAP merchants through TAP Pay
Your TAP wallet is not:
your TAP points balance
a cash withdrawal account
Important
Money placed into your TAP wallet:
is meant to be spent at TAP merchants
cannot be withdrawn
can only be used through TAP Pay
Think of it this way:
Wallet = money you can spend with TAP Pay
Points = rewards you earn and redeem separately
-
TAP Pay lets you pay and earn points at participating TAP merchants by scanning a TAP payment QR code.
There are two ways a merchant may present a TAP Pay QR code:
Static “Pay Me” QR code — you scan it and enter the amount yourself
Dynamic QR code — the merchant enters the amount first, and the amount is already included in the QR code
In both cases:
your device should show the merchant name
the merchant name on your screen should match the business you are paying
Important before you pay
You must scan TAP payment QR codes using the TAP Scanner inside the TAP app.
Do not use:
your phone’s normal camera
another QR scanner app
Also important
Only TAP QR codes can be scanned using the TAP Scanner.
Option 1: Pay with a Static “Pay Me” QR Code
With a static “Pay Me” QR code:
the QR code is tied to the merchant
you enter the amount yourself
How to pay
Open the TAP app
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen
Scan the merchant’s static TAP Pay “Pay Me” QR code
TAP will automatically recognize the QR code
Check the merchant name on your screen
Enter the amount you want to pay
Follow the prompts to confirm payment
If you have eligible TAP wallet funds, TAP will use them as part of the payment flow.
Before you confirm
Always make sure:
the merchant name shown in TAP is correct
the amount you entered is correct
Option 2: Pay with a Dynamic QR Code
With a dynamic QR code:
the merchant enters the amount first
the amount is already built into the QR code
This means you do not need to type the payment amount yourself.
How to pay
Open the TAP app
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen
Scan the merchant’s dynamic TAP Pay QR code
TAP will automatically recognize the QR code
Check the merchant name on your screen
Review the amount already shown
Follow the prompts to confirm payment
If you have eligible TAP wallet funds, TAP will use them as part of the payment flow.
Before you confirm
Always make sure:
the merchant name shown in TAP is correct
the amount shown is correct
After you pay
Once your payment is complete, TAP should show a confirmation screen.
Look for:
a ✅ Paid confirmation
the merchant name
the amount paid
Show the confirmation to the merchant or staff member if needed.
Important reminder
Before confirming any TAP Pay payment, always check:
the merchant name
the amount
that you are paying the correct business
If the merchant name shown in TAP does not match the business you are paying, do not continue.
-
After you complete a TAP Pay payment, TAP will show a confirmation screen.
What to look for
Your payment confirmation screen should show:
a large ✅ Paid confirmation
the amount paid
the merchant name
The date and time
What to do next
After paying:
Show the ✅ Paid screen to the merchant or staff member.
Wait for them to confirm the payment if needed (they should receive a notification instantly).
This screen is your proof that the TAP portion of the payment was completed.
Important
Do not leave immediately without checking for the confirmation screen.
If you do not see the ✅ Paid confirmation, the payment may not have been completed successfully.
-
Sometimes your TAP wallet may not cover the full amount of a purchase.
In that case, you can make a partial payment.
How partial payment works
You pay part of the bill using TAP.
You pay the remaining amount directly to the merchant by:
cash, or
your normal credit card
Example
Total bill: €27.50
You pay €20.00 with TAP
You pay the remaining €7.50 by cash or card
Good to know
This is normal.
You do not need your TAP wallet to cover the full purchase in order to use TAP Pay.
-
You can review your wallet activity and past transactions inside the TAP app.
How to find your past wallet transactions
Open the TAP app.
Tap Account in the bottom right corner.
Select Wallets.
Tap the down arrow next to your wallet balance.
Open Transactions.
This is where you can review your wallet activity and transaction history.
If there was an issue
If there was an error with a merchant transaction, or if a refund is needed, please contact TAP support.
Important
For any merchant transaction problem, do not rely only on the merchant to fix it.
TAP support should be contacted so the issue can be reviewed properly.
