Puzzle Points
A clue. A code. Somewhere in this city, something is waiting.
Puzzle Points are TAP's city-wide treasure hunt. We post the clue and the code publicly. You figure out where to go. Get there, submit the code in the TAP app, and the reward is yours — if you're fast enough.
How it works
-
We post a clue and a QR code together — here on this page and on our Instagram. The clue describes a specific location in the city without naming it. It might reference a piece of history, something you'd smell or hear, a detail most people walk past without stopping for.
Both the clue and the code are completely public. Read them, screenshot them, share them. That's encouraged.
-
Work out where the clue is pointing
then screenshot the QR code and save it to your camera roll before you go. You will need to upload that saved screenshot when you arrive.
This part matters: there are no physical signs, no hidden stickers, and no QR codes placed around the city. You are not looking for a code at the location. You bring the code with you. The location is what’s hidden.
-
Go to the place you believe the clue describes.
Then open the TAP app, tap the scan icon on the home screen,
tap Select QR Image in the upper right,
upload the QR code screenshot from your camera roll.
Do not use your phone camera or another QR scanner — it only works through the TAP app. The app verifies that you’re physically in the right place and processes your points. If you’re in the correct spot, it confirms right away and your reward lands in your account. If not, the app will tell you how close you need to be, so you can adjust and try again.
-
Here's the thing about Puzzle Points — every one of them has limits. Some have a small number of scans available total. Some are only active for a set period of time. Some have both.
We may include this information in the clue itself. We may not. Part of reading the clue is working out how much time pressure you're under.
What we can tell you is this: once a Puzzle Point is gone, it's gone. When the scans run out or the window closes, submitting the correct code from the correct location returns nothing. The point is closed. No exceptions.
This means that sitting on a solved clue is a risk. If you've figured it out, go. Someone else may have figured it out too.
Simple idea. Genuinely fun.
What Happens When You Get It Right
When you submit the correct code from the correct location in the TAP app, it confirms immediately. Your reward — TAP points, or a specific prize for Limited Drop points — lands in your account right away and is redeemable in the TAP marketplace.
The TAP marketplace is a curated collection of real rewards — hotel stays, restaurant experiences, things worth having across the city — selected and funded by TAP. Every point you earn through Puzzle Points, Treasure Points, or any TAP activity goes toward the same balance.
What Happens When You Get It Wrong
If the code doesn't confirm, the TAP app will tell you how close you need to be to the correct location — within 50 metres, within 20 metres, that kind of guidance. Use it. It may mean you're in the right area but need to adjust, or it may mean you're in the wrong place entirely and the clue needs another read.
Wrong submissions don't penalise you. They don't count against the point's scan limit. Try again as many times as you need to — as long as the point is still active when you do.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
The QR code is public. That's intentional.
We post it openly because the code alone is useless without the location. Share it freely. The challenge is the clue, not the code.
Collaboration is fair game.
Solve with friends, argue about it in a group chat, crowdsource the answer from people who know the city better than you do. There are no rules against working together. The reward goes to whoever gets there and scans first.
Check our Instagram regularly.
New Puzzle Points go up without a specific schedule. Sometimes there'll be several active at once. Sometimes one. Following @gettaprewards means you see new clues as soon as they're posted — which matters when scan limits are small.
The TAP app scanner is non-negotiable.
Screenshot the QR code from this page or Instagram. Go to the location. Open TAP, tap the scan icon, tap Select QR Image, choose the screenshot, submit. That specific flow is the only one that works. Every other scanner reads the code and gives you nothing. Save yourself the frustration — use TAP.
Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime.
-
No. We don't publish real-time scan counts or countdowns. What you see is the clue and the code. Whether a point has thousands of scans remaining or ten, whether it expires in a month or a week — the clue may tell you, or it may not. Part of the game is deciding how urgently to act on a solve.
-
Your camera app can read the code but it cannot verify your location or release your reward. Open the TAP app, tap the scan icon on the home screen, tap Select QR Image in the upper right corner, choose the screenshot, and submit from there. That is the only flow that processes the reward.
-
They can scan it for themselves if they solve it and go to the right location. The reward would land in their account, not yours. If you want the reward, you need to be the one standing in the right place submitting it through your TAP account.
-
The app will tell you the distance you need to be within — use that guidance. Try moving toward the specific feature the clue describes rather than staying at the entrance or edge of a location. If you're genuinely at the right spot and it still won't confirm, contact us at team@gettaprewards.com with a photo of where you're standing and the clue number.
-
Yes — as long as the point is still active. Solved it today but can't get there until next week? The code in your camera roll will still work if the point is still running. We just can't guarantee it will be. Go when you can.
-
Regularly — but not on a fixed schedule. Follow us on Instagram @gettaprewards to see new clues as soon as they're posted. Check this page often. Points come and go and the page always reflects what's currently live.
-
Sit with it. Share it with someone who knows the city well. Look at every word — nothing in the clue is accidental. If a point closes before you've solved it, the answer will eventually appear in our archive. Keep trying on the next one.
Clues
Clue 1
She faces east, toward the river she cannot reach. Every city in France measures itself from her feet.
Clue 2
Iron, temporary, still here. It was supposed to be an embarrassment. The city changed its mind.
Clue 3
Twelve avenues meet here like the spokes of a wheel. At the centre, a flame that has never gone out.
Clue 9
Napoleon is not buried here. He is buried here twice. The distinction matters to no-one who visits.
Clue 12
It connects the right bank to the left but belongs to neither. The oldest bridge in Paris has seen every version of the city and outlasted all of them.
Clue 21
Every duck that has passed through this kitchen since 1890 has been given a number. They are now past one million. Yours, if you go, will have one too.
Clue 22
Voltaire drank fifty cups of coffee here every day. The Revolution was planned at these tables. It has been open since 1686 and has never quite recovered from its own history.
Clue 23
Hemingway sat here to write when he needed quiet. His name is still on the barstool. The lilacs are still outside. The arguments about who sat where have never fully been resolved.
Clue 24
Two Chinese figures sit inside and give this place its name. Sartre wrote here. Beauvoir wrote here. Hemingway wrote here. The coffee is still good. The ghosts are free.
Clue 25
The Bloody Mary was invented here. So was the Sidecar. Paris is not where you would expect to find New York, but here it is, since 1911, slightly out of place and completely at home.
