How To Use TAP
-
To get started with TAP, you first need to create an account.
How to sign up
Open the TAP app.
Tap Sign Up.
Enter the information requested.
Follow the prompts to finish creating your account.
How to log in
Open the TAP app.
Tap Log In.
Enter your login details.
Tap Continue.
Once you are logged in, you will land on the TAP home screen.
-
TAP works best when the right permissions are enabled.
Notifications
Notifications help you stay up to date on things like:
points earned
referral activity
rewards
updates related to your account and activity
To turn on notifications
Open the TAP app.
Follow the prompt to allow notifications, or go to your phone’s settings for TAP.
Turn Notifications on.
Location
Location access is essential. Many TAP features will not work without it.
Location is used to support features like:
check-ins
finding nearby businesses and opportunities
location-based experiences inside TAP
To turn on location
Open the TAP app.
Follow the location permission prompt when it appears, or go to your phone’s settings for TAP.
Allow TAP to access your location.
If location access is turned off, some TAP features may not work correctly or may not appear at all.
-
To scan a TAP QR code, always use the TAP Scanner.
Important
Only TAP QR codes can be scanned using the TAP Scanner.
Do not use your phone’s normal camera app.
You must scan from inside TAP.
How to scan a TAP QR code
Open the TAP app.
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen.
Point your camera at the TAP QR code.
Hold your phone steady until TAP reads the code.
TAP will automatically recognize what kind of TAP QR code it is and take you to the right next step.
You do not need to select a QR type yourself. TAP handles that automatically.
-
If someone sends you a TAP QR code as an image, you are able to upload it instead of scanning it live.
Examples include:
a friend sending you a Referral QR code
a friend sending you a payment QR code
Important
The TAP Scanner only works with TAP QR codes.
How to upload a TAP QR image
Open the TAP app.
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen.
Choose the option to upload a QR image from your photos, if available.
Select the image that contains the TAP QR code.
TAP will automatically recognize the QR type and take you to the correct next step.
If the image is not a TAP QR code, TAP will not be able to process it.
-
If a TAP QR code is not scanning, try the following:
Check the basics
Make sure you are using the TAP Scanner, not your phone camera
Make sure the code is a TAP QR code
Hold your phone steady
Move the phone slightly closer or farther away
Make sure the full QR code is visible on screen or in front of the camera
Improve scanning conditions
Move to a brighter area
Reduce glare or reflections
Straighten the phone so the code is not tilted too much
Clean your camera lens
Increase screen brightness if scanning a QR code shown on another phone
Check for damage or image quality issues
If the QR code is blurry, damaged, cropped, or partially covered, TAP may not be able to read it
If you are uploading an image, make sure the image is clear and the QR code is fully visible
If your phone screen or camera lens is cracked, scanning may be harder
Try again
Close the scanner
Reopen Scan from the top left of the TAP home screen
Try scanning again carefully
If it still does not work, ask for a new TAP QR code or a clearer image and Contact TAP Support.

Checking in is one of the simplest ways to earn TAP points when you visit a business.
A merchant may display a TAP Check-In QR code near the entrance, counter, host stand, or another visible area.
How to check in
Open the TAP app.
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen.
Scan the merchant’s TAP Check-In QR code.
TAP will automatically recognize the code and process your check-in.
If the check-in is successful, TAP will show a confirmation.
Once your check-in is complete, any eligible points will be added to your TAP activity.
Good to know
You must use the TAP Scanner inside the TAP app.
Many checkins require you to be physically present at the merchant to check in. So make sure you are there and your location is enabled.
Only TAP QR codes can be scanned with the TAP Scanner.
-
When you complete an eligible action in TAP, your points will appear in your TAP account.
Examples of actions that may earn points include:
checking in
paying with TAP
making a qualifying referral
leaving feedback or a review
completing other eligible TAP activities
Where to see your points
Open the TAP app.
You will see five buttons on the bottom of the screen. Click the Account button in the bottom-right corner.
Click on Points Summary.
Review your current balance and any recent activity.
You should be able to see:
your total points balance
your total points redeemed
your total points earned
your recent points activity
the action that earned the points, when available
Important
Some points may appear:
immediately, or
after the qualifying action is confirmed
If you believe you completed an action but do not see your points yet, wait an hour and check again. Some activities may take time to process.
-
In many cases, you can earn TAP points from more than one action during the same visit.
This is called stacking.
For example, during one visit you may be able to:
check in
pay with TAP
leave feedback or a review
complete a referral-related action, if eligible
Example
A typical stacked visit might look like this:
You arrive and check in
You pay with TAP
After your visit, you leave feedback or a review
If you came because of a valid referral, that referral may also qualify
Important
Not every merchant or situation will allow every action to earn points every time.
Eligibility depends on:
the merchant’s TAP settings
whether the action qualifies
whether any limits apply
Best practice
If you want to maximize your points on a visit:
Check the ways to earn at a merchant before you arrive (Different merchants offer different amounts of points for each action)
Check in when you arrive
Use TAP PAY if is available
Leave feedback or a review afterward if eligible
Make sure referral actions are completed properly when using a referral
-
TAP lets you refer friends to businesses and, when the referral qualifies, points can be earned.
A referral is not just sending a link or QR code.
A referral usually only counts when your friend actually completes a qualifying action (like checking in or paying using TAP Pay).
How to create a referral
Open the TAP app.
Click on the Merchant you want to refer. You can find Merchants on the home page or on the Map Tab.
Once you are on the Merchant page, click on the share icon
A QR code will be automatically created. Click the share icon again on the bottom right
Show or Send the QR code to your friends and ask them to scan it using the TAP App.
Once they check in or spend at a merchant, you’ll both earn points.
Good to know
A referral does not earn you points just because it was sent.
It needs to be scanned or registered by the recipient you send it to. Once the recipient accepts the referral and takes an action at the Merchant, points will then be distributed.
You can send referrals to as many people as you want!
-
If a friend sends you a TAP referral QR code, you can use it inside the TAP app.
You may be able to:
scan it live, or
upload the QR image from your photos
Option 1: Scan the referral QR live
Open the TAP app.
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen.
Scan the referral QR code.
TAP will automatically recognize it and process the referral.
Option 2: Upload the referral QR image
Open the TAP app.
Tap Scan in the top left of the home screen.
Choose the option to upload an image from your photos (top right button).
Select the referral QR image your friend sent you.
TAP will automatically process it if it is a valid TAP referral QR code.
Important
Only TAP QR codes can be scanned or uploaded through the TAP Scanner.
-
A referral does not usually count just because you received it or scanned it.
A referral typically becomes qualified only when the referred user completes a required action.
Common qualifying actions
A referral may qualify when the referred user:
checks in at the merchant, or
spends / pays at the merchant using TAP, if applicable
The key rule
In most cases, the friend must do more than just open the referral.
They must actually take the qualifying action for the referral to count.
Example
Your friend sends you a referral QR code
You scan it in TAP
You visit the merchant
You check in or spend there, depending on the merchant’s rules
If that action qualifies, the referral can trigger rewards
Important
Qualifying rules may vary depending on the merchant.
Some merchants may count:
first check-in
first TAP payment
either one
If a referral does not seem to qualify, it may be because:
the required action was not completed
the action did not meet the merchant’s rules
the referral was not used properly
-
In some cases, you may be able to earn TAP points for leaving feedback or a review.
How it works
If a business has enabled rewards for feedback or reviews:
Open the TAP app.
Click on the Merchant you want to leave a review for. You can find Merchants on the home page or on the Map Tab.
Once you are on the Merchant page, click on the comment icon
A review for will be populated where you can leave the number of stars, and a place to write a review. There is a minimum of 20 characters to be eligible for submission.
Click submit.
TAP checks whether the action qualifies (processes the review).
If it qualifies, the points will be added to your TAP account.
Important
There may be limits on how often you can earn points for reviews or feedback.
Examples of limits include:
1 point per month
1 point per visit
other merchant-specific limits
This means you may be able to leave more than one review or feedback entry over time, but you may not earn points every time.
Best practice
If you want to earn points for feedback or reviews:
make sure you complete the review inside TAP when required
make sure your action meets the merchant’s rules
check your points activity afterward to confirm whether points were awarded
-
The TAP Reward (Redemption Catalog) is where you use your TAP points to claim rewards.
How to open the Marketplace
Open the TAP app.
Go to the Redemption Catalog by clicking on the fourth icon from the left in the bottom menu.
Browse the available rewards.
Viewing rewards
When you are looking through the TAP Reward Marketplace, you can switch between:
All rewards — everything currently listed
“Available to me” rewards — rewards you currently have enough points to claim
This makes it easy to see:
everything TAP offers
what you can actually redeem right now
If you only want to see what is currently within reach, use the Available rewards view.
-
If you have enough points, you can claim a reward through the TAP Reward Marketplace.
How to redeem a reward
Open the TAP Reward Marketplace.
Find the reward you want.
Make sure you have enough points.
Select the reward.
Follow the prompts to claim it.
If the reward is successfully claimed, your points balance will be updated accordingly.
Very important: check your email
Once a reward is claimed, the next steps are handled by email.
This is where important details are sorted out, including:
confirmation of your claimed reward
next steps, if needed
shipping details, if shipping is required
What you should do after claiming a reward
Check the email address associated with your TAP account
Check your spam or junk folder as well
Follow any instructions sent by email
If shipping is required, this will be confirmed by email.
Good to know
Claiming a reward in TAP is only the first step.
To make sure everything is completed properly, always watch your email after claiming a reward.
